Every fighter pilot will be able to stay airborne for longer durations as the plane will be able to replenish its supply of oxygen in air itself in the not-toodistant future.
On Board Oxygen Generation System (OBOGS)- developed by the Defence Research Development Organisation (DRDO) to produce oxygen in air will allow pilots to fly without the aid of heavy oxygen cylinders.
The system uses the bleed air from the craft's engine to produce oxygen, instead of the usual liquid oxygenbased system. The technology provides oxygen for breathing, a breathing regulator that supplies the breathing gas to the air crew, an AntiG-Valve that inflates the anti-gravity suit to apply desired counter pressure and an electronic controller unit to coordinate various functions.
