The Pentagon on 2 February requested USD48.8 billion for procurement and support of aviation assets including 157 new fixed-wing aircraft, 300 new helicopters, and 53 new unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) in its fiscal year 2016 (FY 2016) budget plan.
Under the plan, USD19.7 billion would be spent on combat aircraft, while USD9.6 billion would go towards transport aircraft and USD2.9 billion would be spent on UAVs.
