China's GP7 laser-guided anti-tank guided missile (ATGM) has successfully passed its tests and will be now taken into service. It will be fired from the 125 mm smoothbore main gun of the Chinese Type 99 main battle tank.
While not mentioned in the article, China is believed to have acquired technology for the GP7 from the Tula Machinery Design Bureau 9K118M Refleks AT-11 'Sniper' ATGM, and the Chinese weapon is reported to be identical to its Russian counterpart.
Like the latter, it is fed to the tank's 125 mm gun via the vehicle's automatic loader.
