M261 Rocket Launcher To Be Tested With A Digital Interface.

The US Army plans to conduct a market analysis to identify organisations capable of developing the planned Modernized Rocket Launcher Increment 1 (MRL Inc1) for the 70 mm Hydra unguided rocket. This new variant will consist of a minimally modified 19-tube M261 Hydra launcher incorporating a Hydra Launcher Electronics Assembly (HYLEA), which provides an integrated digital interface compatible with modern aircraft platforms fitted with a digital weapon interface.

A Request for Information (RFI) issued on 26 January is intended to identify potential MRL Inc1 concepts; support government analysis and trade studies; and assess industry's ability to develop and qualify the new launcher within a six-month time period.
